There are over 700 miles of Jeep trails available at your fingertips, plus the most beautiful scenery in the world. You will be traveling over old wagon roads and seeing ghost towns, mines, wildflowers and waterfalls. As you drive, you will go back to history of over 100 years ago.
Full Day Jeep Rental - 4 Door
San Juan Backcountry's Jeep Rental is located at 1119 Greene St., Silverton Colorado which is the main street of Silverton. There are over 700 miles of Jeep trails available at your fingertips, plus the most beautiful scenery in the world. You will be traveling over old wagon roads and seeing ghost towns, mines, wildflowers and waterfalls. As you drive, you will go back to history of over 100 years ago.
Half Day 2-person ATV Rental - 1pm - 5pm
To operate an ATV you must be the minimum age of 16 years old with a valid driver's license. Two riders per ATV.
Enjoy riding your own All-Terrain Vehicle while exploring the mines, ghost towns, smelling the wildflowers and taking in all the beauty around you, such as waterfalls, wildlife or whatever the next turn brings you. Our customers come away loving the San Juan Backcountry and come back year after year.
ATV Rentals require a refundable $500 deposit for damage. San Juan Backcountry will call you prior to your arrival to collect the damage deposit. In addition, all 1/2 day rentals are charged a $10 fuel surcharge and $22.95 for insurance.

Silvertons Historical Tour 1 of 2 - Adult
Come join San Juan Backcountry with the most fascinating historical You will depart Durango aboard the Durango/Silverton motor coach at 9:45am. The bus arrives in Silverton at 11:15am. You will start out from San Juan Backcountry and as you go through town your guide will acquaint you with historical sites on the way to Cunningham Gulch and the Old Hundred Gold Mine. Lunch is provided at the mine followed by panning for gold and silver. Shortly before noon you will get suited up in rain suits for a tour of the underground workings deep below Galena Mountain. After returning to the sunlight you will continue your journey of history by viewing the boarding house clinging stubbornly to the high, steep sides of the mountain. Don't forget the camera and binoculars! As you return to town your guide will point out the Mayflower Mill and describe the way the ore was processed in the late 19th century. Next stop is Silverton's state-of-the-art mining museum and its historical jail. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time as you view the large number of artifacts and their artful arrangement. Slip into jail and feel what it was like to be "behind bars" in the old town of Silverton. After the tour, San Juan Backcountry will drop you off at your hotel or bring you back to the office at 1119 Greene Street in Silverton. You can then board the 3:30pm train departing Silverton to Durango which arrives Durango at 7:00pm. Relax this evening, you've had a full day of fantastic scenery, and a lot of history to remember.
