Rapp Corral - Sleigh Rides
Enjoy a one-hour sleigh ride aboard beautiful handmade sleds pulled by
majestic draft horses in bells and finery. These rides run daily by reservation
and are a great family holiday experience for groups, couples, or individuals.
Enjoy the beautiful snowscapes along the shores of Haviland Lake under
the Hermosa Cliffs, 17 miles north of Durango on Highway 550.
San Juan Ski Company - Snowcat Skiing
San Juan Ski Company provides Snowcat Skiing and Snowboarding in the rugged and remote San Juan National Forest of Southwestern Colorado. Intermediate, advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders can now explore this fabulous backcountry terrain with the San Juan Ski Company. Elevations in our permit area range from 8,800 at Durango Mountain Resort's base to 12,500 feet at the summit of Greyrock Peak. And, unlike heli-skiing, the snowcat always goes regardless of the weather.
Snowmobile Adventures
The scenery on the 60+ miles of snowmobile trails around Durango Mountain Resort is spectacular. You'll view rugged peaks, peaceful valleys, miles of snow-covered aspen and pine, or glimpse coyote, marmots, or eagles out hunting. Come experience the beauty of winter in the backcountry.
Outlaw Snowmobile Tours
With sixty plus miles of trails, snowmobile tours have plenty to offer those who want to have an adventure in the snow. While driving your snowmobile, take time to enjoy the rugged surrounding mountains, serene valleys, miles of snow-covered aspen trees, and maybe even see a few animals along the way! One-, two-, three-, and four-hour rides available with an experienced guide.
Winter Cascade Train
Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
Relive history with the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a truly spectacular journey on board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Experience the adventure of traveling by a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive on the same tracks miners, cowboys and settlers of the old west took over a century ago. The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroads winter train winds through spectacular & breathtaking snow-covered canyons in the remote wilderness of the two million acre San Juan National Forest for an unforgettable scenic adventure. The train heads north to a remote wilderness lunch stop. At the Cascade stop, passengers depart the train to take pleasure in the snow, relax in the pavilion by the fire with a cup of cocoa, or enjoy your picnic by the Animas River. Departs daily at 10am.
Mesa Verde National Park
Mesa Verde National Park is the first and only National Park established to preserve the works of people. The culture represented at Mesa Verde reflects more than 700 years of history. Full and half day tours are available in the summer months. Park is accessible in winter for ranger tours. Additional cost to enter the park is $10 per vehicle.
